The Archaeology Museum Of Nice-Cimiez houses a diverse collection of artifacts from the Bronze and Iron Ages through the Dark Ages, including jewelry, sculptures, ceramics, coins, tools and more.
The price of admission to the Archaeology Museum also grants you entrance to the Roman ruins of the city of Cemenelum, or Cimiez founded by Augustus in 14 BC. You can tour Roman public baths that date to the second and third centuries AD, an amphitheatre, paved streets and the Palaeochristian Episcopal Group from the 5th century AD.
You can also visit the Matisse Museum on the hill of Cimiez. One of many fabulous museums in Nice, this 17th century villa showcases the personal collection of painter Henri Matisse, who lived and worked in Nice from 1917 until 1954.
